Volunteers
Run our help "Hot-Line"
Everyday our phone line is flooded with calls from people with animal related problems. Unfortunately, we can only help a few of those who are asking us to take in new "fur-folk". But assistance, referral and education are our middle names, so we try to assist the rest of the callers by providing them with information on the other rescue resources available, or counseling regarding problems with their own fur family. Our system is computer based, so the calls (phone and email) can be returned from the comfort of your home by phone or even computer! Working on the hot-line is challenging but is a great way to meet some wonderful people and educate others.
Adoption Fairs
We have weekend adoption fairs at differing locations and need volunteers to help pickup up animals from foster homes, deliver them to the fair and then return them back to their foster homes at the end of the day.
Be a Foster Home
It's not possible for us to bring fur folk back and forth from the sanctuary for weekend adoptions. That's where foster homes come in. We provide food, kitty litter, expense reimbursement and veterinary care for our foster kids.
Help out at our Sanctuary
Our sanctuary is located about 1 hour north of Los Angeles. Our cats and dogs would love to meet you! Petting and playing are things in short supply that only volunteers can provide. And there are always special projects that need doing - painting, premises neatening, weed removal, supply organization, etc., etc.
Feral cat trap/spay/neuter aid
We receive so many calls from seniors, the disabled, handicapped and other animal lovers, looking for help with a feral cat situation. Most of these wonderful people are willing to keep on keepin' on with feeding and sheltering, but they need some help to get the population situation under control. We'll provide the equipment and before you know it, you too can become an experienced "cat trapper". It can be a stressful experience for feral kits but remember that it will happen to them only once and will mean a greatly increased chance to go on living out and enjoying their wild little lives. Lives that mean just as much to them as our human lives do to us.
Delivery
This is another problem and reason that we yearn for a sanctuary close to Los Angeles. We always need people with time and especially trucks to help us pick up donated food and kitty litter; also, we occasionally need to transport an ailing fur person to and from the sanctuary for veterinary care in L.A.
